What's in season in February 2018, and other timely information:

Notes for February 2018: Strawberries have a very brief season; and they start in early April in the South, May in most of the US, and early June in the North - don't miss them: See your state's crop availability calendar for more specific dates of upcoming crops. And see our guide to local fruit and vegetable festivals, such as strawberry festivals and blueberry festivals. Cold weather crops, like spinach, some lettuces, peas, kale, Brussels sprouts, broccoli, cauliflower, leeks and early onions being harvested in all but the coldest regions. Many farms and markets still have fresh winter squash, stored from last Autumn.

You may noticed the new appearance to the website! Simpler, cleaner and mobile-friendly! I'm rolling it out, page by page over the next 2 months. Everything is still here; you can access it from the drop down menus at the top of the page or the site search. If you have any questions or suggestions, feel free to write me!

A visitor writes on February 17, 2014: "I know you already have this farm listed, but wanted to send my positive feedback: Ken Kanooth and his wife were very hospitable and kind when I arrived with my four small children and realized I had not packed the play pen I needed for one of my kids. They dug around and found a pack and play for me and were helpful and gracious, offering me some of the already-picked berries for sale as well at a good price. The farm is lovely, clean and not too busy. Now it's winter and we're purchasing some blueberry bushes from them as well and he has been very helpful. (Cost is $10 each 4-5 year old bush when buying quite a few... which we are getting together with neighbors to get that price) Highly recommended, kind neighbor with delicious berries!"
Comments from a visitor on July 31, 2009: "Really big blueberries and easy to pick. Have gone about every week! They have more berries than pickers right now. "
Comments from a visitor on July 26, 2008: "Small berry farm, Beautiful scenery and they have nice big flavorful blueberries. Not many people know about this one yet, so there are lots of easy to pick berries available. They are a little more expensive than nearby farms ($1.50 per pound), but it's worth it. I think they only take cash & check (only). "
